Brinkmann Smoker Grill

Is a 22lb turkey too big for a Vertical Smoker (Brinkmann)?
I have a basic vertical Charcoal smoker and wanted to try smoking a turkey on it. I have successfully smoked turkeys on my Weber Grill, so was anxious to try the vertical smoker. Most of the Recipes that I see suggest a 12-16 lb turkey. I realize that it will need to smoke or 16 or so hours, but is this a problem?
I am wondering the same thing. I have a 21lb. bird and am currently brining it, but do not know if the bird is going to be in the “danger zone” for too long. Any insight from people would be great. I have read somewhere to smoke for like 5 hours, then throw on the grill or in the oven at 350 for the remaining time to get to 165-170 degrees.
