An epitome of perfection, the Fiat Linea is a premium sedan which was launched by the company to gain a firm foot hold in the market. Designed with Italian influence the Fiat Linea flaunts a well sculpted body powered with the best in the class technology. Looking from the front the Fiat Linea would mesmerize you with its perfectly carved face highlighted with human eye shaped twin pod head lights. With its aggressive twin part grille, sporty 16 inches multi spokes alloy wheels and seamless contours blending in the wheel arches you can not but get absorbed in its classy persona. The style continues in the rear as well with the boot lid mirroring the bumper. Single exhaust with chrome trim and stylish tail lamps bring the rear in consonance with the face in appeal. A smart multi jet badge harbors near the company logo in front distinguishing petrol variant from the diesel.
Interiors are tastefully done in chic Italian influence with a smart silver centre console catching your eye as you step in. Clad in twin tones of black and beige the dashboard showcases centre AC vents, audio system and instrument panel. The leather wrapped three spokes tilt steering has audio system control via blue and me. Settle in the cabin to meet high end features like, all four auto down power windows, remote key less entry, remote tail gate open, MP 3 / CD player with FM, additional tray and cup holder on the rear arm rest etc. which would shower your drive with comfort and pleasure. Generously spacious it allows even pretty tall ones to seat comfortably in front as well as rear.
The Fiat Linea hosts a wide array of safety features to keep you safe while you rejoice in the drive. Best in the class features like dual front air bags, ABS (anti lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution system), EBS; traction control etc. make the Linea an absolute fortress. It also host inertia switch FPS, preventing flow of fuel in the engine at the time of strokes. Also practical features like engine immobilizer, programmable follow me home headlights, double crank prevention system, all four disc brakes, three points ELR seat belts are present ensuring convenience, safety as well as the security of the car.
The Linea derives its power from two options the 1.4 liter FIRE petrol unit and 1.3 liter multi jet diesel engine. The same diesel engine is also found under the skin of various Maruti Suzuki and Tata cars like Swift, Swift Dzire, Indica Vista and Indigo Manza. Both the engines mate with a slick five speed manual gear box facilitating smooth gear shifts.
The Fiat Linea has a mileage of 10 kmpl in city and about 14 kmpl on a highway drive for the diesel option while frugal petrol unit offers 10 – 11 kmpl in normal drive.
The Fiat Linea currently features five variants namely Active, Dynamic, Dynamic pack, Emotion and Emotion pack. All the five variants are available in both the engine options petrol and diesel.
Linea has proven its mettle in the market by garnering great laurels for its Italian styled persona, smooth handling and impressive specification. It rejuvenated the brand Fiat in India and gave the rivals a run for their money. Today when the market is at the peak of competition, resplendent with new models and face lift versions of successful models, Fiat is all set to join the band wagon with a refurbished Linea.
About the Author
The company has announced to unveil a face lifted version of Linea on the 3rd of January 2012. The revamped version is assumed to host new and richer interiors. Also the persona would be restyled with new head lamps, tail lights, front and rear bumpers, fenders and a touch up on the boot lid. The sources suspect Linea’s multi jet 1.3 liter engine to get an up gradation as well. Estimated to be priced in the range of 7 – 9 lakhs the new Fiat Linea could be a very attractive value for money proposition.
